About the Artist:

Wendy Barton-Miller was interested in art from an early age, and now as an adult, Wendy's life is all about her art. Her art background began in porcelain and polymer clay. She owned a studio and taught porcelain for several years in Centerville, Ohio, before venturing into the fiber art of rug hooking.
She learned the basics of how to rug hook in 1999. Quickly picking up the technique of rug hooking, she soon turned to drawing and hooking her own designs into rugs for her home. Through the encouragement of friends and fellow rug hookers, Wendy started selling her rug designs as patterns for other rug hookers to hook in 2001, under the business name of The Red Saltbox. She now carries two lines of patterns, her original primitive folk art line and her newest line of antique inspired rug designs.
Wendy relocated from Ohio, back home to Indiana in 2008. She now resides in an old historic home circa 1852, The Robinson House, located in Attica, Indiana. Wendy travels occasionally to teach seminars specializing in hooking in wide cuts, and teaching students how to give their rugs the "aged" appearance. But she much prefers to have small seminars at her studio, where students receive more personalized instruction one-on-one. She hopes to have the studio set up and ready for visitors later in 2009, inside The Robinson House in Attica, Indiana.
Wendy is an accomplished rug hooker, has written numerous articles for Rug Hooking magazine and other publications, and is a member of ATHA.
