- Classic Colonial Homes
-
The best colonial, saltbox, and cape cod house plans out there in our
opinion! Architect is Lloyd Kirley,
and he is one talented architect! His house's floor plans 'flow'
and are gracefully designed.
If you're planning to build a saltbox or other colonial home, don't
miss Lloyd's wonderful designs!
Our saltbox is a custom version of Lloyd's Farmington Saltbox, with
the Deerfield Colonial exterior.
We used CCH's interior and exterior trim packages, with Pella 12 over
12 Architectural Series windows,
also purchased through CCH.

project.
Our flooring is face nailed with:
Decorative Wrought Head Nails - Black Oxide Finish
- Rumford Fireplaces -
Great service and Jim Buckley is a pleasure to work with!
- Williamsburg
Blacksmiths -
Very good service and nice products from this company. All of
our hardware is hand-forged
and most came from Williamsburg Blacksmiths.
Brick - We used a brick called "St. Louis #116" by General Shale
Brick. It is a tumbled brick, so it's edges are
all chipped and instantly look old. This brick varies alot in
color, especially in the solids.
NOTE: After their supplier sold us their brick, and we had built
our three fireplaces with their brick, and
covered our colonnade walk with their brick......they then refused
to sell us more brick for our patio. We wanted our
patio to match all the other brick on the house. They refused
to sell us any more of the St. Louis #116 brick because
our application would require the brick to be walked on, but also
refused to tell us why they won't sell it if it's going
to be walked on. Even though.....they sold it to us in the first
place and we now have three fireplaces hearths
and the colonnade walk done in this particular brick that will be
walked upon. We will be watching our
brick for defects and problems.
Exterior stain - Exterior stain is "Barn Red" and "Cordovan Brown" by Cabot Stain.
- Owens-Corning -
Dimensional shingles are Owens-Corning "Oakridge™ Pro 50 Deep Shadow
Shingles", color is "Teak"
Interior Paints - All Sherwin
Williams paints. Most of interior walls are painted "Favorite
Tan".
Trim color is a custom mix from Sherwin Williams.
- Handcrafted Artifacts
-
Exterior copper lighting - We were so pleased with the quality of this
copper lighting. We ordered
all of our copper lighting with no laquer finish, so they will age
naturally. Will be
posting pics of exterior with copper lights, as soon as exterior painting
is complete.
Interior tin light fixtures - All the sconces in the house are also
from Handcrafted Artifacts,
as well as the punched tin cone chandelier in our loft.
- Timeless Lighting -
Dining room chandelier is from Timeless Lighting. Electrical
cord hidden inside a custom
S-hook, wonderful quality lighting. They have many finishes for
their metal on their light fixtures.
We liked the hidden cord in the S-hook so well, we ordered an additional
hook to hide the cord on our
kitchen tin whaler chandelier (found whaler chandelier in Waynesville,
maker unknown, shop now closed).
- Tin Peddler -
Located in Tipp City, Ohio.
The punched copper hanging lantern light fixture hanging
in the front staircase of our saltbox.
- Benner's Woodworking
-
Custom kitchen & custom bathroom dry sink style vanities by Mike
Benner of
Benner's Woodworking, from Waynesville, Ohio. They have a wonderful
historic paint finish
that makes their furniture look worn, like antiques. We are so
pleased with our beautiful
kitchen and vanities, we very highly recommend them. They also
make all kinds of wonderful
furniture, so be sure to visit their website.
Granite kitchen countertops are 'Tropic Brown', installed by Darkstar of Dayton, Ohio.

Kitchen faucet by Delta (model - from "Victorian Collection" in venetian bronze finish)
Bathroom sinks in the dry sink vanities are by American Standard (model - "Morning")
Master bath vanity sink faucet by Kohler (model - "Antique")
Half bath small dry sink vanity faucet by Belle Foret (NOTE:
we are not very pleased
with the quality of this faucet - we recommend the Kohler
