About Wendy and The Red
Saltbox studio....
Wendy Miller is the designer behind The Red Saltbox, a primitive rug hooking company located in southwest Ohio. Wendy is an accomplished, award winning rug hooker that works in wide cuts of textured wool in warm primitive shades of color. She designs both antique adaptations, as well as her own line of folk art rugs. She has been rug hooking since 1999. Her rugs have been exhibited and won numerous ribbons and awards, including two Sauder Awards, Celebrations XV, XVI, XVII adn XVIII. Wendy has written several articles for Rug Hooking magazine, and most recently wrote and published a dye book of her most popular primitive dye formulas, "Recipes From the Kitchen of The Red Saltbox".

Route 725, between Miamisburg and Germantown, Ohio.

Workshops and seminars are available year round with Wendy Miller at
her studio in Miamisburg, Ohio. They can be customized to meet the
needs of your group. All workshops and seminars require all students to
work in wide cuts of wool (#8 or #8.5 cut minimum width) and primarily
in textured wools. A fully stocked studio is here for your convenience,
filled with hand-dyed and as-is wools, 200+ bolted wools, patterns, and
other supplies....so we are sure to satisfy your rug hooking needs!

Please note: All workshops and seminars are held upstairs in the Red
Saltbox studio in a large, comfortable classroom setting. Breakfast
baked goods and fruit, lunches, beverages, served right in the studio for
your convenience (please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions).
Three-Day Custom Seminars
Seminar hours: 10am - 4pm EST daily
Seminar class size requirement:
Minimum 4 - Maximum 6 students
Three day seminars are specifically for smaller groups that want plenty of individual instruction time with Wendy. Each student works on the Red Saltbox pattern of their choice (no size limitations for seminars). Students can bring their own wools or can purchase all wools here at the studio. All color planning will be done here at the studio on the first day of the seminar. Keep in mind that Wendy works in a very primitive color palette and almost exclusively with textured wools. You will learn and benefit the most from a seminar with Wendy if you choose to work in a primitive color palette and with textured wools.
No Pattern size limit for seminar

One-Day Custom Workshops
Workshop hours: 10am - 4pm EST
Workshop class size requirement:
Minimum 4 - Maximum 10 students
One day workshops are for small groups of four students, up to larger
groups of ten maximum. In a one day workshop, all students work on
the same pattern (your group selects the Red Saltbox pattern of their choice
for the group to hook). There will be choice of wools for students to use,
so each student can individualize their own rug.
